Qingwen Dong, director of the Graduate Program and professor of communication, and Graham Carpente, professor of communication, co-chaired a panel on American Media Shockwaves Toward Journalism and Mass Communication Curriculum Innovation at the Western States Communication Association Convention in Denver, Colorado, in February.
Dong was elected as a member of the Research Council, a part of Leadership Council in National Communication Association, the flagship organization in the field of communication.

Melanie A. Felmlee, assistant professor of pharmaceutics and medicinal chemistry, was awarded a four-year, $1.15 million grant from the National Institutes of Health Support of Competitive Research (SCORE) Program for her project 鈥淕HB Toxicokinetics: Role of sex hormone dependent monocarboxylate transporter regulation and potential for altered overdose risk in transgender men and women.鈥�

Mart铆n Camps, professor of modern languages and Latin American studies, published the chronicle "Cr贸nica del Covid-19 en California" (A Chronicle of Covid-19 in California) in the book "Relatos de la cuarentena" (Stories of the Quarantine) published by the University of Nuevo Le贸n in M茅xico.
